Anggi's Exchange Stories in THAILAND
The Daily Prophet of ASEAN in 60 Days Project (week1)
Day 1 June 14 2011
Arrival days was pretty awesome minus the not so smooth flight caused by the weather. Me, deby, niken, dani, byan, badar and yuyu arrived at around 9pm. We said good bye to deby badar and dani, who were going to different place than us. Some OC picked us up,there were Toey, Phim, and Fhun Plus Huy and Kar Men.
and we tasted our very first Thai meal. I just tried fried chicken with special Thai sour sauce. Not so Special. But the welcoming atmosphere both from the OC and the city itself are things I treasured the most.
Note: The airport is annoyingly too futuristic for one developing country! If the can, then one day i believe CGK will be the same :)
Day 2 June 15 2011
After lack time of sleep on super military mattress lookalike, we had breakfast at chamchuree square next to chulalongkorn university. I ate the economic pack breakfast at Tesco. Still to afraid of spending money for meal. We held our meeting with Toey and Fhun. 8EPs were already at BKK. We got the most updated timeline for the roadshow.

I got really excited that we’ll have the first school visit on Wednesday in the next week.
After that, We went to AIESEC open recruitment booth at the hall inside Chula Campus. We helped promotes Aiesec to the freshmen of Chula… Loving the moment!

Day 3and4 June 16 and 17 2011ASEAN Conference
So, the conference was generally divided into 2 part, ASEAN part and AIESEC part. The ASEAN part comprised the opening speech from ASEAN representative, The Explanation of ASEAN community and the future opportunity available for us, the youth of ASEAN in particular. The AIESEC part is about non technical preparation in doing the roadshow and ASEAN Village, plus the very energetic AIESEC thingy (roll dance and roll calls session).
I learned a lot from here. That the future ahead is very challenging, and each youth need to be well prepared. I hope the thing we’re doing here in enlightening the Thai youths will worth to their life, their family, and the community.

after the conference, we went to Victory Monument with EBs and OCs, not to have a Historical visit, but we had dinner at the 10 THB noodle, where 1 bowl wont be enough. Yahoo… I’ll post the pic soon after i find it in FB okay!
Day 5,6,7 and 8 June 18, 19,20 and 21 2011Roadshow Preparation
The 3 days we spent to design the roadshowso basically we’ll run the roadshow with three main parts for total 2 hour duration of visit:Introductory to ASEAN, The ASEAN Community 2015 section, and the drawing section. The last one is the part where the students participate as group to implement things they’ve learnt from the previous session. This one takes longest time compare to other but somehow needs to be skipped cus at some schole we have less than 2 hour.

On day 7 and 8 Toey told us that the 2nd school we were about to visit asked us to present cultural performance. Paniiccc!!! all Eps were busy practicing traditional dance and song . Thank God we had Yuyu, who would dance Mamayang.
Day 9 June 22 2011
1st School Visit
We went to our 1st School, the Samyean High School to educate 60 students. They were actually override our expectation. previously the OC warned us about how shy Thai students are, but they came up to be very proactive and participating in our session. We were very pleased with the result. The drawing session was conducted successfully, and the picture they made, Tres bien!

Day 10 June 23 2011
2nd School Visit
We went early in the morning heading to St Cabiel school, but apparently it wasn’t early enough that we stack up inside freakinly JKT-ish traffic jam. 8.25 we still in the middle of nowhere. the lucky 5 here are me, Niken, Tu, Thao, and Candice. It turned out that we had to came out from the cab we rent and changed into the taxi-bike, break thru the traffic. 3 taxi-bike, the two of them were used for two people, without any helmets, headed to place we definitely had no idea where it was!!!! We just knew it was near the national library and the school called St. Cabiel… Oh whatsoever finally we arrived at the school, where the other EPs were already there. That day the cultural performance was conducted in front of more than 100 students inside an assembly hall. I’ll sent you the link of the video later ya! They produced some very awesome picture you know! Even there was one drawings with perfect gradation in coloring. So talented.
one thing I noticed a lot : all boys school is kinda harder to deal with. ha ha…
Day 11 June 24 2011
ASEAN Village GR
so today was the ASEAN Village preparation, whole day rehearsal. The day started with the “get lost in bangkok with the cab”. I, Niken, Ged, Tu, Yuyu, and Thao, We went the whole toll highway which apparently the outer ring road of the city, to the different building whose name was same as the one we’re supposed to be at. we arrived 1 hour after the schedule.
after the jet lag of getting lost finished, We started preparing the tomorrow stage performance and decorated the booth. All EPs from the 3 Uni were gathered and busy with their each country preparatory thingy… It was fun that we even still help each other without caring whose country we’re dealing with. I remember one EP from china even helped us cutting the cardboard box.
Too bad we only did stage test-drive 5 mins for each country, and the rest time were used by MC to practice. I can’t really remmeber what happen this day, except that afterwards we went buy dinner in chamchuree square. enough with this square please…
